CHINA: 3G PHONES OUTSELLING 2G. SMARTPHONES OFFICIALLY MONTHLY TOP SELLER

Based on article from TechinAsia June 2012.

china_iphoneWith the introduction of LTE-100 in 2010, it was only time before the platform caught up with the technology. In the first half of 2012, China shipped more 3G phones than 2G, heralding the true arrival of China's internet age. In total, 190 million phones were shipped, and of those, 107 million were 3G models. Not all of these phones are smartphones, as over a 6 month period, feature phones outsold smartphones. However, since April 2012, smartphones have officially taken the lead, and by June it was 59% of market share.
