FORD REVEALED ITS AGGRESSIVE GROWTH PLAN IN KOREA

Based on article from Korea JoongAng Daily Sept. 01, 2012

Ford is reinforcing its growth by launching new vehicles and increasing its marketing resources and expanding dealers and service centers.

U.S. auto giant Ford will launch six all-new or facelift models in the coming months: new Taurus, Lincoln MKS and Mustang models in Korea, as well as all-new versions of its Escape, a small SUV; its Fusion, a midsize car; and its diesel-fueled compact, Focus.

In addition, early next year, Ford will introduce an all-new Lincoln MKZ and new hybrid versions of the all-new Fusions.

To boost its sales and enhance brand awareness, Ford is tripling its marketing budget. Ford launched a unique brand campaign, “Seoul to Soul” in July. Ford offered 10 power bloggers and opinion leaders access to Ford’s cars and technologies in new and unexpected ways at its global headquarters.

Ford also will invest 51 billion Korean won this year to expand dealers and service centers. Moreover, Ford extended its car warranty to 10-year/100,000km.

However, unlike GM, Ford does not have a plan to build a manufacturing base in Korea immediately.
